PRIDE INTERNATIONAL FILM FESTIVAL
The Pride International Film Festival was founded by Sarah Hyland in 2018, upon her graduation from York University with a Bachelors Degree in Cinema and Media studies. During her studies, Sarah fell in love with the film festival scene, and later dedicated herself to creating a version of the cinematic public that represents those who may have been overlooked in the past.

After its founding, PIFF went on to give a voice to those who have been marginalized, due to their sexual/gender identity, in communities all around the world. It is renowned for being a safe space that people of the LGBTQ+ community can go to and feel as though they truly belong. At the heart of it's creation, PIFF values the idea that every color matters and aims to represent as many different community members as possible.

Each year, PIFF is hosted by a different country and showcases over 100 films, directed by Queer directors, starring Queer leads, and featuring Queer stories. The event spans over one week and attracts thousands of movie-goers every year.

The Host country also plays a key role in the creation of the central showcase, where the LGBTQ+ experience of that country is documented and displayed throughout the entire week. This provides exceptional education about the Queer experience around the world.

PIFF welcomes every single queer identity and invites them to come together and celebrate their uniqueness in an environment where there is no judgement, lots of love, and tons of films. It is a place where every color matters, and you are invited you be yourself.
Celebrate your differences, your commonalities, and your identity.
